Why I think Pay to Win is Bad.

This only really applies to shards run in the United States. The IRS isn't going to spend a lot of time investigating someone based on thin evidence. For example, on the form used to report someone for tax violations, it contains the following instruction: And on the hotline webpage: They...

Why I think Pay to Win is Bad.

While I agree in principle that a game should not be pay to win, I don't think that paying for content is a bad thing. Dungeons and Dragons online is a really good example of this. They sell content in the form of mini-adventures which you can buy for a couple bucks each. You purchase them...

    Abandoned/Donated Shards

As far as how to share them, why not use DropBox? You could get a free account that would give you 2GB to start. Remove save files and client files and the size of the scripts is probably very small.

    Abandoned/Donated Shards

Shards are permitted to use RunUO / ServUO and not release their custom scripts if they choose. If it was the original author of the scripts that uploaded them (i.e. released them to you), then you have every right under the GPL to re-release them. If, however, they were uploaded without...

    Abandoned/Donated Shards

In the context of RunUO, you are correct, but software licensing is a tricky subject. RunUO is released under the GNU Public License (GPL). This is why I had to abandon using Awesomium in my webgumps project and use CEF3 instead, which has a GPL compatible license. GPL is a poisonous license...

    In-Game GUMP Editor using VITANEX

I released this quite a while ago: http://servuo.com/archive/uo-compendium.253/ Full source included. Adding additional components isn't hard, but it does require you to follow an existing one. When you look at the code you'll see that they self register, which means you can add additional...

    In-Game GUMP Editor using VITANEX

The system was never really designed to do actions in game. It's purely an in game information system. It's meant to convey information to your players. A good use for it is to have an in-game gump that displays your shard's rules, or provide a compendium of monsters, or a tutorial. All the...

Idea for a new Web Based GUMP system

Because of licensing conflicts, I switched over to CEF3 which is more compatible with the GPL. UltimaLive 0.98 is attached here. It is a cleaned up version of 0.97 that has a better debug window with some better handing code when function signatures can't be found. It also has some hooks for...

    UltimaLive Lumber Harvesting

If I was in a position to troubleshoot this, I would begin by looking at the target packet format that the client uses. I would then look into using a different target cursor for getting the item id. Maybe something with a regular static target would work. Then I'd look through the harvest...

    Water problem

UltimaLive can also adjust the wrap point if you happen to be using it. If not, I really like Hxd as a hex editor.

    Water problem

Your dungeon is on the wrap point for the map. The client does that to help the map look ok when sailing in a boat from one side to another. Either adjust the wrap point or move the dungeon.

    Player Driven Town Development

UltimaLive can still be downloaded from the Archive. It is now maintained by gametec. It still works and is available. The license for UltimaLive is GPL and cannot be revoked. It's open source. Feel free to download it and continue development of it.

UltimaLive Map Streamer and Editor [Deleted]

This resource has been removed and is no longer available for download. I have reliquished control of UltimaLive to gametec. For a long time I was under the impression that using the Ultima Online client was breaking only the Terms of Service (TOS) for the game, meaning they would simply...

How it works: UO Software Renderer

The Ultima Online Classic client uses a software renderer to display the game on the screen. What does this mean? It means that UO doesn't use the hardware acceleration from your graphics card to render the game on the screen. It uses your CPU instead, which is much less efficient. This is why...
