If you try to add items that are only expected to be a quantity of 1, and you make it a higher quantity, it will make it, but it will be strangely named, ie: 50 Scribe Pen. I haven't noticed any specific issues with this, other than the bad name, so I recommend only specifying a quantity of 1 for items which don't stack. Feedback on this will be appreciated if there's issues!
