Hey there guys, decided recently to revisit UO, but on a different level, I have played UO off and on for a very very long time original home being lake superior back around 1999/2000ish. I continued to play for many years before taking a break, then played off and on with various freeplay shards for many years. I used to play around a bit with sphere years ago when I decided to do the shard creation thing for myself, now I have decided again to get hardcore into this and see if I can do a new shard with servuo! how are things here with servuo? to be honest it has been quite a while since i have been into all of this, are the scripts very customisable with servuo? I have many things to look into and many things to read to restart my journey. I hope to be a helpful member of the servuo community!

thanks for the welcome guys, good to be here, going to start setting up my shard today. what is the recommended specs server-wise that I should use for a live public shard? I can also scale up and down as needed, I will use currently 16 xeon cores with around 32 gigs of ram on a SSD disk with a fat pipe running windows server 2012, should be sufficient right? also for client versions connecting to the shard, can I use the latest patch? or should I go up to only a certain number, I would like to have SA and HS support.
 
Yeah.. that should be just about adequate for a server, or 20 ;)

Client versions depend on what your wanting. With your mentioning wanting the newest content, you would of course want the newest client. However, with the newest client, there is very little tools that will allow client file editing. If you are into adding custom art and such, you will be in for some learning curve as to bouncing back and forth between old and new client versions.
ServUO is RunUO in essence, just an expanded package really. As far as scripts being customizable.. well, the language is C#, so your imagination is about the limits :)
