Look for ZeroDowned's post where he has acknowledged they removed XML from the current repo. He then has set a package you can download and add to get the XML working again. Very easy to install. Here is a link to his post XML files to get the new 5/02 ServUO Repo working with XML again. ZeroDowned rocks!

Why remove xml at all? I cannot wrap my head around that. It is such a wonderfully powerful system.
You would have to ask the Admins here about that. I believe they spoke about code bloat as being a reason they wanted to pear down how much they were having to maintain when they did updates to stay current with UO live. But again you would have to ask them.
