It's nice to see someone having a fresh approach to Gump editing.
Are you planning to match, and then improve, the classic to-use "GumpStudio"?

This version is build from the ground up, I haven't used Gump Studio in such a long time I barely remember how it runs. I wanted to test myself, and provide an up to date tool built in c# for the community! Where it goes will be based on feedback and suggestions, not trying to replace/compete, just providing options from my mind of madness! LOL

I understand, I think it's a good start!

One thing that comes to mind about capabilities to replicate from GumpStudio (that's old and not updated, but had good basic elements) is for example the possibility to create backgrounds selecting the first left-corner ID.

I don't think the point is to compete, but to get inspiration from the good things it did.

I already went one better, when you select a background, doesn't matter the piece it will fill in the rest, there is even a preview, you set size after you place the element via the element edit when you double click the element on Canvas!

I have the pre req programs installed and everything but once I go to open it nothing happens.

When it is first opened, it requires you enter in the location of the Official UO Folder, did you get that prompt when launching app?

Not sure what the issue is for you, could be permissions/arch/OS - I built/run it on my Win 11 86x with no issues!
